Asparagus Pizza… Yearning for Spring
by ....RaeDi
Decided that spring could not get here soon enough… but a little spring for dinner would be perfect. A spring pizza was in order. The crust was easy… I bought pizza dough at Central Market already made for me. I wanted dinner to be very easy and it was! Put a little hollandaise sauce on and threw on some veggies… steamed spinach (pat between paper towels to get as much moisture out,) about 1/2 cup of steamed (partially done…) brussel sprout leaves, some cherry tomatoes, few thin slices of onion and the first asparagus (partially steamed) of the year and it was so delicious… added some different cheeses and a few herbs and she was ready before we knew it.
I was starved and kept peeking into the oven…
Look at it, all the blends tasted so delicious!
I want spring to come so bad… I have been going through some of my photos that I have taken in my gardens for several seasons. I am going to share a few of the flower photographs over the next weeks… the real signatures of the summer months with you. Maybe just maybe it will quicken the approach of the season?
A Zen Saying: Sit quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself. T reminded me as I was talking about spring… he was thinking out loud about the grass would need mowing!
I will start with my favorite the hydrangea… they seem so complex to me. As a child I thought of them as big snowballs… now they have so many varieties… my favorite is called the ‘Sea Breeze.’ Is she not lovely? And who could not resist the daisy? I hope you enjoy my garden pictures and I have included our little raccoon that makes regular visits I call him ‘Robber’….
Digital pictures I did of my bleeding hearts… how many like digital art… I am still deciding!
I love this! That pizza looks awesome!
It was an awesome mix and we both loved it. We had snowflakes this am!
Perfect, I just love asparagus on pizza!
This mix was really good! I love asparagus too (and brussel sprouts!)
Was only saying last night that I hadn´t made pizza for a while and this is exactly how I like mine. No meat, no tuna, just lots of veggies, tomato and cheese! Are your hydrangeas in bloom right now? I love them so much. My mother and grandmother before her always had them at home and the gene for looking after them seems to have passed on! I have two beautiful hydrangeas, one given to me as a little dead twig (almost!) from my sister in law and it grew into a huge one full of blossoms. I cut them right back as they were getting woody but they are sprouting happily in their pots so all looks good for plenty of blooms.
Tanya you would love this pizza! I agree, most pizzas I do not like the meat on… a couple I do and I will be sharing one with all in the next weeks! Those are pictures from last years bloom… I am missing warm weather and color in my garden so thought I would bring the blooms to us in pictures! You will have to take pictures of your blooms and share I love the hydrangeas… there are so many different kinds now! I should cut mine back, afraid to a friend did and it killed her plant, maybe she cut back to much if there is such!
Oh how I miss spring!
This winter has been extra long and gloomy and I can’t wait for bright sunny days!
I love the flavor combination in your pizza, it looks so refreshing
We had snowflakes this morning, hoping that is the last of that! It has been a long winter! That is why I shared pictures from my garden of last year just wanted some color in my gardens… give me the sun! The combination of this pizza was really good, we both enjoyed it very much, hope you do too!
Oh yummm…I LOVE asparagus, anything and on pizza, superb. Can I come for dinner next time you’re making this? 😉 A bit of a commute but I’m thinking worth it.
Love the spring pics too. It’s on it’s way!
Hugs R, G
You would be more than welcome to come to dinner! I love asparagus too! We had snowflakes this am… spring is on its way… G says! Have a wonderful day and some asparagus!
That pizza looks so yummy – I don’t think I’ve tried asparagus on one before; I must try it!
I too love hydrangeas. I remember them from when I was young. I like the way they change colour depending on the soil. Your photographs of them are lovely and I also like your digital art version of the bleeding hearts.
You must try the asparagus on pizza, it is sooo good! Thank you for your kind words about my photos. I love the hydrangea, I will sometimes add orange peels to the soil around some of my hydrangeas to get more depth in the the color! Thank you for your comment on my bleeding hearts, I am still experimenting with digital art… a beginner and so much to learn!

Fantastic! Looks just amazing.
Thanks a million Greg! We loved it… it was different with a different mix!
Pizza looks wonderful! We have asparagus on sale this week. Know what I’m going to make! Did you make your own Hollandaise?
The green Hydrangeas are so popular around here. Our soil is perfect for them. Guess the pH of your soil can change the colors. I love the blue ones. Love Bleeding hearts. Kitties killed the new one I planted.
Aunt Kate
Hope you like the mix, we sure did! It was my own Hollandaise… guess I should have added the recipe! I love green Hydrangeas… I had one but it died! The acid in the soil decides the color of the Hydrangeas, I will sometimes put orange peels in the soil around a couple of my hydrangeas just to get more color! I have a white bleeding heart too. I love flowers. Shame on the little kitties, but they did not know! Thanks for coming by and commenting!
Excellent post Raedi! Pizza, flowers, cute furry animals, what more can one as for? Haha 😀
Thank you Christina, I hope you like my flower picks, I am going to show some of the pictures I have taken in the past couple of summers… to add some color for now! Want the summer season so bad!
Me too, me too, haha 😀
Love it!
Made it last night and absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to do it again with a different twist depending on what’s in the fridge. Son said everyone would eat Captain Krunch if it had Hollandaize sauce on it!! Think he’s right! Want to try it with anchovies too!
Hello Kate, Glad you made the pizza, it is so good! Let me know how you mix it up so to speak! Son is right! T would love anchovies!
